"Nataliya Meschaninova is the most caring author": the director Svetlana Samoshina about her debut "The Edge of the Broken Moon"

The director Svetlana Samoshina, the producer Alexander Kotelevsky, the actress Anna Ritz, within the Russian Premieres Competition of the 45th Moscow International Film Festival, presented the film "The Edge of the Broken Moon" based on Nataliya Meschaninova's script.

The film tells the story of the 14-year-old Sonya, who learns her mother has been lying her about her father's death and runs away from home. Her mother and elder sister find the girl at the old country house where all of them were once happy and now they have to discuss problems and troubles, over which they have drawn a veil on for years.

"I came to Natasha Meschaninova with the topic of great concern for me: it is very easy to hurt your children when you do not tell them the truth, often on the pretext that you mean well to them. I used to work with Natasha before and this was one of the best experiences in my life. She is a very caring author, she always listens, adds something, and offers help. And it is always easy and interesting to work with her texts", noted Svetlana Samoshina.

The producer Alexander Kotelevsky also admitted the text helped the team to be choosy in the casting because everyone agreed to participate right after reading the script. As a result, Masha Lobanova, Viktoria Tolstoganova, Artem Bystrov, and Rostislav Bershauer joined Anna Shepeleva in the film.
